Global East Asia Japan is a scholarship summer study abroad program administered by the USC East Asian Studies Center. The program provides a small group of USC undergraduate students the opportunity to study abroad mainly in Tokyo, Japan with all major expenses covered: roundtrip international airfare from LAX, basic housing and meals, travel within Japan, and local transportation and entrance fees related to the course.
This year, eleven students were chosen through a competitive application process to participate in the program, which is based at Meiji University. While abroad, they will take “Foreigner and Gaijin: International Understanding in a Global Age” (EASC 360 Global East Asia) taught by Lon Kurashige, USC Associate Professor of History. The students will also travel extensively throughout Japan for a unique, intensive experience, shared through this blog.
Global East Asia is also offered in China. For more information, please visit the website: http://dornsife-blogs.usc.edu/eascenter/gea/
